ILS 18 Myrtle beach INTL.( changed from 17 )
Enter KMYR to go to this airport.

This is the most common ILS approach you will fly at NAIA.
As you see, radar or DME is requierd
Usually you will be vectored onto the final approach course.
As an alternate you can do the full approach - ARC south on the 14 DME ARC.
You set the localizer on your no.1 nav 109.5. Inbound course is 174 for reference.
To identify BEVET int. ( where you start your timer. If you loose glideslope )
set 117.6 on no 2 nav. and set 259 R from CRE VOR.
Remember to identify both stations. Set your altimeter and DG.

" fly heading 200, vectors for the final approach course, maintain 1700 until established,
cleared ILS 18 approach "

You are now cleared for the approach
, and fly 200 until the localizer centers,
then you can descendto 1600 ft. Find the heading that keeps the needle centered,
and wait until the glideslope centers.
Normally approach tells you to contact the tower on 118.45 at this time.

REMEMBER : YOU ARE NOT CLEARED TO LAND UNTIL TOWER TELLS YOU SO !!

Your final approach fix is the lightning bolt ( GS interzept )
start the timer when your no.2 nav center.

To fly the localizer : use max. 5 degrees heading change, and wait.
The thing is 5 degrees wide, andSENSITIVE.
Personally I prefer to steer mostly with the rudders on the localizer inbound.
To fly the glideslope : use power for speed and pitch for GS adjustment.
GS is only 1.4 degrees wide.

Time yourself depending on the groundspeed. This if the glideslope is lost, you know when to go
missed approach. Otherwise missed approach point is reaching 223 ft msl, if you don`t have the
nesseceary visual references.

For the full version : " fly direct grandstrand VOR, Cross the VOR at 3000, track the 357 radial,
maintain 3000 until established on the 14 DME ARC, report eastablished, cleared ILS 18 approach"

Go to the VOR at 3000, when you cross over, track outbound on the 357 R.
When you reach 13.5 DME, turn to a heading of 265, and set the VOR 2 to 265.
Every time the VOR centers, turn 10 - 20 deg. into the arc, and set the OBS 10deg less.
Report established, and descend to 2000.
Verify that you are within + - 0.5 DME.
Continue until you interzept the inbound course and fly the approach as normal .
